canvasgeddon part three and my new baby!

 I made this canvas for Sid's room as a reminder for the school year. Just a little prospective for her to help her navigate the tricky world of grade four girls. Some random paper from my stash, thickers and some vellum for the butterfly "underwings".

And finally, as many of you know I work in jewellery store and these days the price of gold (and to a lesser extent silver) has skyrocketed. I found a stash of nearly a pound of silver from old unfinished jewellery, mistakes and ugly old pieces. So I sent it down to the smelters, took the cash and bought a DSLR...finally! Without further ado, meet  my new baby, Ginger:

This layout was just for fun, pure fun. I played with all kinds of goodies: inks, masks, rub-ons, washi tape, twine, stickers, paper strips, my beautiful girl's photo...you name it. No journaling , no real intent. Just fun solitary scraping with a chick flick one night.

Butterfly Jar Tutorial

Growing up, my Mom had a bell jar on our front hall table with two preserved black and white butterflies on branches inside. I alternated between finding this jar creepy and beautiful.
Fast forward to the present: after I made the mason jar snow globes, I came up with the idea to make my own "cruelty free" butterfly jar....lol
I started by finding three twigs and hot gluing them to the base of the jar, making sure the twigs were small enough and in the right position to fit inside the glass. I then cut thin strips of green card stock from the Momenta's Family Ties collection(PA-1839) and curled them with scissors, like Christmas ribbon. This card stock is perfect for that since it has a striped texture and curls easily. I glued it around the twigs, covering the base.

Next I punched three layers of paper for each butterfly (using a Martha punch) and Family ties collection (PA-1839). I glued them together along the body and fanned out the wings to give them some depth. I glued them to the branches using Glossy Accents. I added Stickles to the butterflies when they were dry.
