Card Season

The month of May has many occasions and birthdays in it 'round these parts. Here's a smattering of some recent cards:

These to cards were made for my Mom and Mother-in-law. They're slightly different from each other but both are bright and springy. I used lots of Washi tape on the cards...which is good since I'm addicted to buying it but not using it!

This card was really fun to make. My nephew turned 11 a few weeks ago and I have no idea what 11 year old boys like. I found some Grungeboard shapes on sale at Micheal's last week and the skull seemed to fit the bill. I painted it with Broken China Distress Stain and melted a few layers of UTEE on top, the I popped it in the freezer and gently bent it to create the crackle effect. I kept the card simple, so he could pop of the skull and stick it to his bedroom door.
My last card was made for a co-worker celebrating her birthday this week. I combined a few techniques for this card, including the one above for the crown, using a new Martha Stewart Around the Page Punch (courtesy of my lovely sister in law) and some paint mixed with spray ink topped with Rock Candy Distress Stickles for the wings.

Next post I'll be sharing the labour-of-love project I made for my Mom for Mother's day.
Thanks for stopping by!

These cards are fabulous! I love that you used so much of your washi tape! The skull is brilliant and it was such a good idea to keep it simple so it can be removed!! Love the butterfly with the crown too!
